In honor of medical school Match Day for residency programs, I did this medically themed design with an EKG graph. Behind the lines, I did a newspaper print as a background. The lines were then drawn freehand. I am happy with the result! Of this design and of the match after a few anxiety driven months! In all seriousness, the American medical system should have a heart and come up with a less torturous process!
Amidst all the final papers, totally forgot to upload my Holi manicure! Holi is a beautiful spring festival of colors in India…it’s excitement is second to Diwali. Have to keep this post short and sweet, but I am happy I managed to get eight different nail colors in the manicure!
Whether it is just narrowly avoiding a cold during finals period, catching the bus exactly when you get to the bus stop, wearing the right shoes for the unpredictable weather, let’s admit it, we all need a little bit of luck to get by. A little bit of luck that might be going unnoticed as we move from one thing to the next everyday. The end of the quarter requires a little bit of more luck that usual. And despite the paper-writing and research, I am taking a whole day off for St. Patricks Day. I feel like I have always missed its celebration every year, particularly I feel like I am always writing a big paper when St Patty’s Day comes around. Last year was a special exception as I got to go out with my best buds to a local Irish pub, but we didn’t go that crazy. I plan to change that tomorrow with merriments starting in the morning. There is something intuitive about wanting to do that, I don’t know why exactly.. I am particularly excited about seeing the Chicago river dyed bright green.
Anyways it happens to be a big holiday weekend with Pi Day today, Purim tomorrow, St. Patricks Day and the Indian festival of Holi!! Enjoy 🙂

It’s been a while, and I figured it should start feeling like spring somewhere, so I will start with my nails. I am no longer counting on Mother Nature to make it happen. But hints of spring have been around, despite the frigid temperatures and snow covered streets. For one, our days are getting longer! Yay for more sunshine (when we have them!). Day light savings is approaching this weekend, so the days will be even longer!! My apartment has been awkwardly placed, overlooking court yard surrounded by other buildings, and I am on the 2nd floor. All winter, I practically had no sunlight in my room, but slowly and surely, the sun rays are peeking in when I leave the blinds open. It makes me happy. And the dreaded U of C winter quarter is coming to an end in a couple of weeks 🙂 It’s been the most challenging quarter so far; I hope spring quarter has better weather (and therefore, pleasant attitudes of people) in store.
On a Throwback Thursday note, it was exactly at this time (down to the hour) that I received my graduate school acceptance. And here I am, slaving away under the books. But it’s exactly what I would have wanted a year ago, so it is kind of exciting to see things have progressed since then. Chicago has treated me well 🙂
I apologize for the hiatus; the Broncos have lost miserably since the last nail design post -my nails have suffered a bit -I have taken a short India trip – my cousin has gotten married (!!) – amongst other awesome things that has happened in February. For now, I am happy to March into spring! (ALL the pun intended!)
